Angela made the following representations to Go-Ahead and the NTA relating to the 139 bus service
“On foot of so many requests from residents in North Kildare, as their public representative, I write to urge you to review the current 139 bus service. It is great to see the uptake on this route but many people are left standing at the bus stop due to the service being oversubscribed and no other bus for a further 2 hours.
In an effort to positively engage with a solution, I suggest the following:
1. To increase the frequency of buses into and from Maynooth Monday to Friday, the young people travelling to Maynooth University need this service urgently.
2. To re-examine the time table to see if, now that there is full return to college and work etc, that the actual bus timetable is viable (time wise with increased traffic) in order to ensure students reach Maynooth by ten to the hour in time for their lectures. For example, a bus leaving Clane at 9.35 am is too late to get to college on time.
3. To re-examine the demand to see if a double decker bus is required to meet customer demand for service in order to ensure that passengers are carried safely on the 139 bus.
Thank you for continuing to provide this much needed service, now more than ever with a crisis in accommodation, young students are obliged to commute to college. It is better for the environment not to have parents driving them on congested roads.
I hope you can take my suggestions on board.”
